Mexican Cuisine
If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.
Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.
Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.

This is our Mexican restaurant. Food is consistently good. The wait staff is almost always on their game. Owners are super nice and friendly. I try something different on the menu every time we eat here so as to keep it interesting.

I love this place great food! Great price! Great atmosphere. My husband always gets chicken quesadilla and loves it. I try something new each time! Great service hardly any wait time.

Great food and great service. One of the best mexican restaurants around.

Nice restaurant. Food was good to very good. The price was about what is charged at other Mexican restaurants. The salsa was on the tomato tasting side for us and it was not hot at all. They had Carta Blanca beer which is a plus. The rice was moist and had flavor. The beans were average. Tortillas used in the meal were above average simply because they were soft and not falling apart. Decor is nice. Waited 15 mins to be seated on a Friday night. They have indoor and outdoor seating.

I'm here at least once a week. The food is great and consistent and the service is always top notch. You can get in and out pretty quickly or, if you have some time, you can enjoy a nice family outting. They have karaoke on the patio one night a week and it can be a great place to watch a soccer game. So, great food, atmosphere and service!

Been eating here for 2 years and would've given it a 4; however ate there today and it was definitely a strong 5. Check out the photo of the lunch special #1. I've had many chili rellenos here before, as well as in their other locations. They have been inconsistent in the past. This one today, however, was fabulous... The best I've had in the US. Whoever their cook was today, or if they're using a new and improved recipe, KEEP IT! Hot and fresh, huge, loaded with cheese, with ground beef on top. The refried beans were hot and fresh and delish, as was the beef taco. The salad was fresh, crisp, and cool. Service was outstanding and, as always, the atmosphere fun and whimsical. Outdoor covered seating is open and a great way to dine. By the way, my lunch was only $5.75!!!

Pretty great Mexican food given then area that it's in. Living up in Monte Sano, there isn't a whole lot of selection around here. The extremely cheap food/beer prices make this place more worth the while! You get free salsa and chips of course and your service is pretty average/quick depending on the day or time. Definitely recommend for anyone living in the Hampton Cove or OxR area.

The food is excellent. My group was seated on the patio and was forced to endure a serenade from a Stephen Bishopesque guitar player(think the guy on the stairs in Animal House). We couldn't hear each talk but I could hear the shrieky little kids at the next table annoyingly well. Thanks for that Mom & Dad. Have a few more cervezas. I think I'll pass on this location going forward. Never had any of these issues at the Scottsboro location.

Super cool atmosphere. That's about all they've got going for them. The combination plates don't come with rice and beans - which I've never seen in my life (grew up on the border). Don't order the chile relleno - it was disgusting. No idea what that was a about.

Thank god for a new serviceable restaurant in Hampton Cove. The place has been packed since it opened and there's a reason for it. Good food good prices and cool vibe. Bandito is cheaper and Cantina is the tastiest mexican food in town but if you live in the area you can't go wrong with Buenavista. Check it out - you'll be glad you did.

Good food fast service we were there for lunch and got in and out quickly. Better than average Mexican food for Alabama.

I gave it a 2 star because of the prompt service and courteous staff. I don't know how other reviews keep saying the food is awesome. I've never gotten anything that has outstanding flavor or wowed me in any way. The chips have no flavor and taste like cardboard. The salsa is just okay, and it's served ice cold. I've been to some pretty great Mexican restaurants in my life and this is nowhere near good to me. I've been pretty diverse too when choosing a meal so I could see if it was just one or two things that maybe I didn't like but it's pretty much everything. The burrito con papas is supposed to have potatoes in it, and all it is is chopped up French fries. The charro beans have cut up hotdogs in them. Has anyone ever even noticed that?? The piña colada tastes funny and I never taste any alcohol in it. We ate here just last night and I ordered the enchiladas de queso and it came out not as described on the menu. I was pretty disappointed again. But then again I've learned not to expect much from this place. But like I said, it's fast service and friendly atmosphere and it's also very clean. But the food is very lackluster. The only reason we go here is because of our location. It's the only place that's close.

It was a quick meal for lunch on my road travels...nothing too fancy, but pretty tasty.

Very good service, good price. And the food is delicious. It is roomy and comfortable. Ive gotten a dozen different items here and each one was very good. I would give 5 stars, but i dont think its quite a 5 star kinda place. Id give 4.5

This is our favorite Mexican restaurant in the Hampton Cove area. The combination plates are a bargain but there are so many other good items on the menu. They have a call in/take out area which is convenient as a last minute idea for days ne'er on the way home from work.

The restaurant is heavily decorated with lights and lanterns, unlike anything I've ever seen before at a Mexican restaurant. Depending on the weather, there is outdoor seating with live music/karaoke. There are very large booths or tables with large wicker chair to choose from inside-- outside there are mostly benches that resemble picnic tables. When you enter, there are usually 3 or more people at the hostess counter hanging out. This has caused the group I go with to get pulled in different directions more than once- really only need one person making seating decisions and the others taking people to that seat. There has never been a wait, though. The service can go either way. We have gone several times and gotten the same waiter every time. When seated outside, the music is very loud-- you can't hear each other and you definitely can't hear the waiter. Our orders when sitting outside are usually mixed up, and the DJ comes to the table to try to get you to come up and sing, or will talk to you over the mic. For our group, we're just there for the food, but will get asked about the music several times. Inside, the waiter seems to get confused with the order, and another waiter will step in usually to fix it. I feel bad that the initial waiter has to get help, but if not our order is usually wrong. Ex: I asked for a specific entree on the menu, the shrimp burrito, but instead got a tortilla wrapped around shrimp and cheese, which does not match the entree description except for the shrimp being there. The wait for food is not very long, at least, but I do wish it wasn't a toss up as to whether you get what you ordered. When they aren't waiting tables though, the staff is sitting at the bar or leaned against a wall, which just looks odd to me. Food portions are huge, which is what it should be if the average price is about $10 per plate. My boyfriend is a huge fan of the Burrito California, which is a huge burrito the size of a small baby. Free chips and salsa are brought to the table as well. All of the food is exceptional, with a few twists to traditional Mexican food I've had before, such as mushrooms being added. There is also an avocado cream cause on some things which is absolutely delicious. The cheese dip is average, never any spice to it. A good place to go for huge portions and something a little different, but you must be very clear as to what you want. Point to the exact thing on the menu if you are expecting the description to match your plate.

Solid! The ambiance really is pretty fun (especially if you're a fan of those 'authentic' 8-point star lamps popular at IKEA a few years back - of course, I have no idea about authenticity, so the lamps in this place might actually be produced in real-life Zetas money laundering shops in Juarez, for all I know). Also, our daughter was her usual 2-year old badass self and no one seemed to care. In fact the wait-staff actually indulged her =) On to the food - very, very tasty. Standard chips and salsa starter. Salsa is pretty tasty, but incredibly mild - about as spicy as a protestant accountant. I had the fajita salad (aka fajitas with a bowl shell as opposed to flour tortillas) and my wife had the flauta combo. We shared both among the three of us and it was certainly too much food (gotta love Alabama portions). Even though we shouldn't have, we added on the delicious sopapillas for dessert. And holy sweet Lord of the Flies, it's cheap! We were out of the there with tax and 25% tip for under $35. Gotta love cost of living in Northern AL!

This is a great new Mexican restaurant in Hampton Cove. The service is great and friendly, and the food is delicious. When I first ate at this location, I came to hear live music, but the outdoor patio was full. We had a misunderstanding about where we wanted to sit, but that was quickly resolved when our server lead us to a table outside. I came during the grand opening, so the place was completely full and chaotic, but he staff managed to keep everything under control. Also, since it was the grand opening, I can't say anything about the menus, because there was a special paper "Grand Opening Menu." The only difference will be the material, not the content. The food was very flavorful, unlike the old Cazedores. The portion sizes were perfect. I would recommend this to anyone who loves Mexican food and wants good quality for the price. The atmosphere is slightly different than most Mexican restaurants. Their chairs look like cow fur. Their booths light up. And the most incredible difference was the lights. They were not like anything that I've ever seen before. They are very unique and some of them even hang from a tree! Look at the pictures to see the lights. I will definitely come back to this restaurant, before Rosie's, Casa Blanca, or any other Mexican restaurant.

Nice place with super friendly folks. The food is largely the standard fare available at seemingly every Mexican joint on every corner but they do have a few notable exceptions. Their Tamales Fabuloso are excellent as are the new Street Tacos. They have added Charro Beans and Nachos Al Carbon which are all good moves in my book. Overall perfectly good food in a nice setting with a great staff.

Went to BuenaVista tonight. My first visit, but my wife and girls had eaten here about 2 weeks ago. Though the restaurant appeared full, we were seated quickly with a party of 4. They are still using the Grand Opening menu, but it is an excellent menu. Chips and salsa on the table just after being seated. Our waiter was quickly at the table for drink orders. Actually had a hard time deciding on which dish to have. Finally settled on Pollo Fundido, which was also selected by my wife and one daughter. The other daughter had Burritos Grande, with minor changes from the menu. Meal arrived as ordered. When we received our other dishes, the guacamole and tortillas were missing. Our waiter quickly brought them to the table. Added a to go order at the end to carry home for our son. For five entrees and appetizers, our bill was only $67. This did not include any drinks other than water; however, I saw beer being served. Did not look for others, but I thought there was a full bar. Main screen comment said no alcohol. This was originally built as a Santa Fe Steakhouse, so that accounts for some of the "unusual" decor, but the lights and atmosphere were great. We will definitely be back to try other menu items, and will try to save room for dessert.

Great decor, reasonable prices, good but not great. Typical Tex Mex in Alabama. Not better than El Olmeca, about the same. But I prefer El Olmeca folksy charm.

Waited less than fifteen minutes on a very busy Friday night ...... Impressive! But a party of 2 gets seated much faster than larger parties, obviously. The staff was friendly, our waitress was great and the food was PLENTIFUL!!! Huge portions! I had the chicken fajitas and had to take home the rest( which I ate on for two days!) $13 for three meals? Not too shabby! My hubby had the Tex Mex fajitas and he needed a "doggy bag" too. Good stuff!
